According to Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz (from Philadelphia's NBC 10 weather team) we are in for a very snowy winter this year. I won't bore you with all of the details, but he bases this prediction on several factors (el nino, PDO, NAO, etc...). All factors point to big snow this year. We'll have to see how it turns out, but this could be very good news, if you're nuts about snow like I am.

FB - not to bust your nuts or anything, but didn't that windbag predict that this year's hurricane season was going to surpass last years unprecedented disaster? Don't get me wrong. I love snow and tons of it. Especially the acoustic qualities - I love how it absorbs sound and makes everything so quiet. I just hope you're not disappointed by that weenie.

Yes, he did make the prediction that we'd have a lot of hurricanes (and that should be his strong point based on his stupid name). And, Rob Guarino is predicting that we'll get between 17 and 23 inches, so one of them is wrong for sure. I'm posting it because I love snow, and if I read that someone is calling for a lot of it, I hope they are right. Some things Glenn Schwartz has in his favor, he literally wrote the book on snowstorms in the east (co-authored with Dr. Niess from the Weather channel, titled something like "Philadelphia Area Snowstorms"). Things going against him, he was rated worst in prediction accuracy last year by an independent auditing firm. Time will tell.
